By Isabella Vale – Founder of Tarot Masters
Sundays have always held a special kind of energy for me. They feel like the exhale of the week — softer, slower, quieter. Even when life is full, Sunday still hums with a kind of sacred pause.
Over the years, I’ve come to treasure Sundays not just for rest, but for reflection. That’s when my tarot deck calls the loudest. The kettle whistles. I light a bit of incense or palo santo. And then I pull out the cards, not to predict anything urgent, but to connect. To check in. To listen.
There are a few spreads I return to again and again on Sundays. They’re simple, but deep. Gentle, but illuminating. Here are my favorite ones to work with at the end of the week.
1. The Week Behind and the Week Ahead
This is my Sunday classic. It’s perfect for closing one chapter and opening the next with intention.
3-card spread
Card 1: What did I learn this past week?
Card 2: What energy should I carry forward?
Card 3: What do I need to focus on in the coming week?
Sometimes I journal after pulling. Sometimes I just sit with it in silence, letting the images speak. I love this spread because it reminds me that I don’t need to rush into Monday. I can walk in with awareness.
2. The Self-Care Check-In
Sundays are the perfect time to ask your body and spirit what they really need.
4-card spread
Card 1: What part of me feels depleted?
Card 2: What part of me feels strong?
Card 3: What does my body need this week?
Card 4: What does my heart need this week?
This one is especially helpful if you’ve had a heavy week or you’re feeling a little off. It’s not about fixing anything — just noticing, with compassion.
3. The Alignment Spread
Sometimes I sit down on a Sunday with that feeling of, “Am I still on the right path?” That’s when I reach for this spread.
5-card spread
Card 1: Where am I now on my path?
Card 2: What am I aligned with?
Card 3: What feels out of alignment?
Card 4: What can I release?
Card 5: What wants to come through next?
This spread always gives me a mix of truth and encouragement. It doesn’t pressure me to change. It just reminds me where I might need to realign.
4. The Slow Sunday Soul Spread
This one is less structured, more intuitive. I pull 1 to 3 cards with no positions — just a question in my heart, like:
What does my soul want me to know today?
Sometimes that single card carries more weight than a whole spread. I’ve had Sundays where I pull The Hermit and realize I’ve been avoiding stillness. Or The Empress, reminding me to nourish not just others, but myself.
Why Sunday Readings Feel Different
There’s something about the energy of Sunday that softens the edges. I’m not looking for fast answers or big declarations. I’m looking for quiet truth. For clarity I can carry into the week. For that feeling of being held and guided, even in small ways.
When I read on Sundays, it’s less about what I should do and more about what I feel. What I’m being nudged toward. What I’ve been too busy to hear.
The cards speak differently when you give them space.
A Few Ritual Touches I Love
To make my Sunday tarot time feel even more sacred, I sometimes
- brew herbal tea with intention
- lay a soft scarf or cloth over my table
- light a beeswax candle or a stick of copal
- pull a crystal or two to sit with the cards
- journal stream-of-consciousness after the reading
- play soft instrumental music or let silence hold me
It’s not about creating a performance. It’s about slowing down enough to make space for meaning.
Final Thoughts from My Sunday Table
If your week has been heavy, if your heart is full, if your mind is busy, or even if everything feels fine — try sitting with your cards on a Sunday. Ask a question. Or don’t. Just be with them.
The tarot will meet you where you are.
And over time, this quiet ritual can become an anchor. A mirror. A friend.
With love from my Sunday morning heart
